2013 – 2018 Head of Product Development (COO) & Founder
The perspective on learning new skills in hockey has changed. You used to learn the technique first (without resistance), then added resistance, and finally you could apply the technique in a game.
New scientific findings show that learning is more sustainable when placed directly in context. But there is a problem, there is no learning line that matches this vision! So we had to develop one. I developed a unique hockey methodology (yes, I had time to spare at the time) centred on solving game problems (I didn’t know at the time that this was actually the ‘Discovery’ theory).
The biggest challenge was:
How do we support trainers and coaches in becoming more game-oriented?
I translated the theoretical curriculum into an annual plan. For this, we developed coach cards with concrete tips. For trainers we developed exercises, which we later included in the ‘HockeyPraktijk’ app.

- Developing practice materials.
Challenges
- How do you get amateur coaches to coach game plays?
- How do you coach for development rather than short-term performance?
Results
- Publication of various articles in HockeyVisie (trade magazine);
- Providing official KNHB training courses;
- Use of learning line by 1 in 3 clubs in the Netherlands.
